A few interesting place...

If ever you come to Yellowknife, here are a few places that you have to visit:

Bullocks: A local restaurant that serves an assortment of fish, wild meat, fries and salad. That's it, that's all. Bullocks was voted Reader's Digest "Best Place in Canada for Fish and Chips", and I have to say I agree completely. The fish is amazing!! They serve it on the grill, deep friend or pan fried. They serve arctic char, inconnu, cod and some other types depending on the season. They also seve moose and caribou (which I haven't tried). Their fries are made from potatoes in front of your face and the homemade bread and feta salad is delicious.
The actual restaurant is a medium sized wood cabin with an eclectic decor. The walls are covered with pictures and writings of the many people who visited the restaurant and the atmosphere is jovial and happy. I've been there 3 times in total, the food comes at a (somewhat hefty) price of about $35 per plate. If you want a drink, get it yourself, if you want to eat in a hurry, don't go there. The wait is usually about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

The Dump: This may be the most visited, most talked about dump in all of Canada! There is a weekly column on the dump, people furnish their homes with dump treasures and it is a meeting place for people and sea gulls alike.
So needless to say, the dump is not just a garbage dump. There are sections at the dump, paint, furniture, misc. cars and car parts, wood, metal etc...There is also a section for actual garbage, where you can discard things that are not good to anyone.
There is no stigma at all with dump shopping, people proudly display their dump finds, showing off what a great patio set they found, or french doors, or collection of books among many others things. You know what they say, one (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure.

The Trails: So, by now you know that Yellowknife has many, many trails. This is a highlight for those that like walking, lakes, rocks and the outdoors in general. I've already blogged about Cameron Falls, so you can take a look back at previous posts. Kam Lake, Range Lake, Prelude Lake, Long Lake....there are many many places to go and visit.

With that I wish you all a happy weekend and peace to all!
